Just as a true summer heat wave arrives, it’s time to think about the end of summer as St. Louis Park students will soon be heading back to school. Here’s something else to think about: the deadline for the first-ever “Picture The Park” photo contest, sponsored by St. Louis Park Magazine, is Saturday, August 31. We’d love to see what you’ve been doing this summer, although photos taken from September 1, 2012 until the deadline are all eligible. (A winter shot might be fun to see right about now). Here are the categories: People & Families; Wildlife & Nature; Activities & Events; City Landmarks and Pets. Photo buffs of all ages are encouraged to enter – you can submit up to three photos in each category. Winners will not only receive a gift certificate to a local business, but may see their award winning image in an upcoming issue of the magazine. Online voting for the “readers’ choice” award begins on September 10– we’d like community members to weigh in on their favorite Park photos, too. Other categories will be judged by a panel of industry and community experts. Show us how you’ve spent your summer in The Park. We can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to, so enter the photo contest today. For rules, FAQs and more, go to slpmag.com.
