Families can participate in a nature walk along a luminary trail and make their own luminaries to bring home. Other activities include winter themed games, face painting and a bonfire.
Envious of seeing beautiful calligraphy artwork on stationary and on Pinterest? Now you can learn this art form too. Jessica Chung is holding a workshop to learn everything from the basics of holding a calligraphy pen to mastering drawing letters and building your own style. Starting and ending on Boom Island in Northeast Mpls., choose from numerous beautiful park and trail routes for you and your family to enjoy. All courses will be closed to motorized traffic and include stops providing refreshments and bike mechanics. Proceeds go towards bike safety, education and trail maintenance. Earn your stripes and join the Minnesota Zoo for their annual Tiger Tracks 5K to raise money for wildlife conservation. The race starts at the Shady Oaks Picnic area and follows a course through the zoo on outdoor trails.
