Half-Price Books in Miracle Mile collects books to benefit literacy

Half-Price Books in Miracle Mile collects books to support literacy.

It’s waste not, want not when it comes to used books at Half-Price Books in Miracle Mile—what’s not sold is donated. “We’re always more happy to donate than we are to recycle,” assistant manager Travis Lennox says.

In 2013, Half-Price Books has donated more than 1 million books nationwide, and the St. Louis Park store has donated more than 3,300 locally, according to Lennox. “They go to libraries, schools, adult literacy programs and places like that,” he says.

Every spring, Half-Price Books organizes a book drive called The Half-Pint Library. “We’re especially looking for children’s books,” says Lennox, adding that books can be dropped off at the store kiosk. Whether donating during a book drive or shopping in their stores, supporting Half Price Books means supporting literacy advocacy.
