Local Photographer Captures a Tranquil Day on the Lake

Two paddle boarders on the water in the channel between Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake.
The City of Lakes is also the city of many photo opportunities. You just have to be ready for them.

This issue’s photo was taken by Jeff Liss for our 2018 Picture City South photo contest. We love how it captures the peacefulness of the lake and the glass-like surface of the water.

Liss writes, “Minneapolis is called the City of Lakes and between two of those beautiful lakes, Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake, is a tranquil and picturesque channel. One day, while on my way to Lake of the Isles, I spotted these two paddle boarders enjoying a perfect summer day. I quickly stopped my car, grabbed my Canon 5D Mark III camera and positioned myself on the bridge, waiting for just the right moment. As they entered the sunlit spot in the water, I took the picture.”

Be sure to enter this year’s photo contest in August. We want to see your take on things!
